A military court in Cairo sentenced a 4-year-old child to life imprisonment, along with 116 others on charges of illegal protesting, a defense lawyer said.
According to Faisal al-Sayed, a lawyer in the defense team in case no. 280, 2014, the Western Cairo Military Court handed down life sentences to 116 protesters, including one 4-year-old, Ahmed Mansour Qurani, who was sentenced in absentia.
Al-Sayed told Masr al-Arabeya news site that the defendants were accused of killing protesters, even though many of them are family members of slain protesters.
Al-Sayed submitted to the court the birth certificate of Qurani, but that did not prevent the court from announcing the verdict.
“It seems the judge had not even read the case files,” Al-Sayed said.
