For the 10th time – renewal of pre-trial detention of former minister

June 22, 2016

The Cairo Criminal Court, headed by Judge Said al-Sayaad, decided on Wednesday to remand in custody Dr Mohammed Ali Bishr – former minister of development during Mohamed Morsi’s presidency – for 45 days pending investigations. He is being held on charges of collaborating with America and Norway, allegedly harming the security of the country; as well as organising demonstrations intended to disrupt the work of state institutions.

This is the tenth time that Mohammed Ali Bishr has had his pre-trial custody renewed since he was arrested from his home at dawn November 20, 2014.
